Triple T Farms has proudly been in operation for 56 years, with a long-standing tradition of seed production and agriculture. The farm is rooted in family land that carries deep historical significance. Some of the same ground was originally homesteaded by Christina Owens, Jim's great-great-grandmother on his mother’s side of the family. Her journey to establish the homestead was marked by hardship, including the loss of her husband along the way, making the land a symbol of perseverance and resilience. 

In 1970, George Tubbs Jr., Jim's father, decided to embark on owning land. He established Triple T Farms, Inc. and purchased what is called the "old section" right next to the piece of ground homesteaded by Christina many years before. During this time, Newt Smith, Jim's grandfather, had been tending the land owned originally by Christina. In 1976, Jim and his grandfather, Newt, began farming together. Newt passed down both knowledge and a strong work ethic to Jim. That season, they managed to farm efficiently, spending just $2,400 in total on all expenses, including fuel, which worked out to approximately $6 per acre for the wheat crop. At the time, fuel cost only 25 to 30 cents per gallon.

By 1977, Jim was farming independently. Over time, Triple T Farms continued to grow as a true family operation, with Jim’s wife, Kathleen, daughter Sherrie (Tubbs) Wiedeman, and son, George, all contributing to the farm’s success.  By 1990, George was working full-time at the farm right beside Jim. Father and son continued over the next several years to grow the business through gaining more company alliances, expanding varieties, and implementing innovative farming advances, all while carrying the same original principles from Newt forward.

In 2016, GT Seeds was established to service the farm’s seed cleaning and treatment facility. Today, the facility is operated by George, representing the next generation of leadership and commitment to quality. Throughout the years, the farm has benefited from the contributions of Jim’s brother, Mike Tubbs, who has been a supportive silent owner and was involved in the original establishment of Triple T Farms. Though farming practices and technology have evolved over the decades, Triple T Farms remains family-run and grounded in the same values of hard work, stewardship, and dedication that have guided it from the beginning.
